Sonoris Mastering Equalizer 7 Band Linear Phase Parametric (Card)

The Sonoris Mastering Equalizer is a seven band parametric built for mastering, and its one genuinely unusual feature is that LINEAR PHASE OR MINIMUM PHASE IS SELECTABLE PER BAND. Most equalisers make you pick one mode for the whole plug-in. Here you can run a transparent linear phase cut on one band and a musical minimum phase boost on another, in the same instance.

That matters because the two modes are good at different things. Linear phase boosts or cuts a frequency range without adding a sound of its own, which is what you want on difficult material like solo vocals, orchestral recordings and complex mixes. Minimum phase behaves like a traditional analogue style EQ.

Seven bands, each able to be a lowpass, highpass, peaking or shelving filter. Every band can process stereo, Left, Right, Mid or Side independently, and you can monitor the LR or MS channels while you work. In mastering that lets you lift a centred vocal without touching the sides, or centre a bass without collapsing the stereo image of everything else.

The display is large and graphical and shows exactly what the filters are doing, and the whole window resizes by dragging the lower right corner.

There is automatic upsampling as well as manual 2x, 4x and 8x modes. Upsampling gives a more accurate response, particularly at the top of the spectrum where ordinary digital filters start to misbehave.
