Arguably one of the finest surviving examples of an incredibly rare, vintage 1956 Gretsch Model 6184 Electromatic Corvette Hollowbody in its rarest, most striking factory colorway, Jaguar Tan, accompanied by its original premium hardshell case.

While typical mid-50s Gretsch instruments suffer from severe finish checking, aggressive binding rot, and heavy playwear, this extraordinary piece appears as if it stepped directly out of a 1956 Brooklyn factory time machine. It is a monument to mid-century American guitar craft.

Historically Documented "Wide Headstock" Pedigree with the face of the headstock featuring the magnificent, iconic vertical "Electromatic" script and zig-zag motif, deeply etched and carved directly into the original 2-ply black-and-white factory plastic overlay to reveal the clean white underlayer. This is topped by the horizontal "T-roof" Gretsch logo. This guitar represents a legendary factory transition.

Built at the start of the '56 run, it features the highly coveted, wide-profile "paddle" headstock architecture—utilizing substantial, hand-carved neck blanks rolled over from the late-1955 production cycle. This massive, flared headstock gives the guitar an imposing aesthetic presence, an unmatched acoustic resonance, and a chunky, highly desirable neck profile that later, tapered late-50s models completely lack.

The original DuPont Jaguar Tan nitrocellulose finish is entirely immaculate, no fading, the gloss is bright, deep, and remarkably vibrant.

Vintage Gretsch binding is notorious for crumbling over time ("binding rot"). Miraculously, the dual body binding on this instrument is perfectly intact, smooth, and structurally flawless.

The original single-coil pickup delivers that iconic, woody, mid-century Gretsch snap and bite. Original pots, wiring, floating rosewood bridge, and Gretsch trapeze tailpiece remain pristine and fully functional.

Includes the incredibly scarce, original factory hardshell case. A premium, separate add-on in 1956, this case is structurally perfect with functioning latches and correct mid-50s plush interior lining, completing a true collector package.
