The 000-15M has one of the most honest origin stories in Martin's catalog — the 15 Series was born out of the Great Depression as Martin's answer to hard economic times, a stripped-down all-solid guitar built without cosmetic flourishes so that working musicians could afford a genuinely great instrument. The philosophy hasn't changed in nearly a century. No binding, no gloss finish, no ornament — just solid mahogany throughout, bone nut and saddle, East Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, nickel open-gear tuners with butterbean buttons, and the straightforward satin finish that lets the wood breathe and develop naturally over time. The 000 body with 14-fret neck join produces a comfortable, balanced voice — warmer and more focused than a dreadnought, with the direct, woody midrange presence that all-mahogany construction delivers in its most honest form. Non-scalloped X-bracing with Sitka spruce braces keeps the response clear and even, the modified low oval neck profile is comfortable and natural in the hand, and at 25.4-inch scale and 1-11/16-inch nut width this guitar fits a wide range of players and playing styles with equal ease. Martin has Plek'd this model since the early 2020s — the precision CNC fret leveling process that comes from the factory — which means the out-of-box playability is consistently excellent.
