There’s something about a black Strat with a white pickguard that just looks right. This one has that familiar, no-nonsense Strat feel: comfortable body, maple neck, dark fingerboard, three single coils, and a layout that feels immediately familiar the second you plug in.

The neck pickup has that fuller, rounder Strat sound that works beautifully clean. Positions 2 and 4 give you the hollow, glassy character people chase in a Strat, and the bridge pickup has enough bite to cut through when you lean into an overdrive or push an amp a little harder. It covers a lot of ground without trying to be anything other than a straightforward Strat.

This one has a two-point tremolo and sealed tuners, which gives it a more substantial feel than the lower-end Squier models. It’s the kind of guitar that makes sense as a main player, a dependable backup, or a platform for someone who likes changing pickups and hardware over time.

The older Squier Standard series sits above the Bullet, Sonic, and Affinity lines and has more of that full-sized, traditional Strat feel without moving into Fender-branded pricing.

Cosmetically, this one presents very well. The black finish still has a strong gloss, the white plastics keep the classic look intact, and there are only normal signs of previous use if you look closely. Nothing about it feels abused or neglected.

If you like Strats because they can move from clean rhythm work to jangly parts to something sharper and more driven without much fuss, this one fits that role well. It feels like a guitar meant to be played rather than babied.
