We’ve just received a special edition guitar based on Momose’s popular “MJ1” model, featuring a black oil finish, an anodized pickguard, and black hardware.

MOMOSE Custom Craft Guitars is a traditional electric guitar and bass brand named after “Yasuo Momose,” a senior master builder at the Asuka Factory in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture.

It is no exaggeration to say that this brand has long been synonymous with high-quality Japanese-made guitars. Each instrument is meticulously crafted by hand by skilled artisans, who consistently pursue the “ideal musical instrument” from the selection of wood through processing and finishing.

This model features the classic combination of an alder body and a maple fingerboard, equipped with the original “Gravitas-J” pickup.

One of this model’s most distinctive features is the BLK/OIL (Black Oil) finish.

Unlike typical black finishes, the oil finish allows the natural texture of the wood to shine through.

Furthermore, by unifying all components in black—including the black anodized pickguard, black control panel, and black bridge—the guitar achieves a cohesive, sleek, and refined look.

The sound combines the well-balanced tone characteristic of alder with the quick response and clear attack unique to a maple fingerboard.

The guitar is equipped with Momose’s original Gravitas-J Set.

While based on an MJ-style sound, these pickups were designed with meticulous attention to the output balance across each string.

Additionally, pulling up the tone knob activates a switch, allowing you to switch to a thicker, more powerful tone than the standard setting.

Despite its simple 2-Vol + 1-Tone control layout, the Turbo Switch expands the range of sound variations, making for a practical, stage-ready design.

This guitar combines a distinctive, premium look with practicality.
