The Restoration Includes:

Full Crossover Upgrade: Crossovers updated with MPT film capacitors and or NPE + MPT film bypass caps as needed. These replace the drifted, high-ESR original factory capacitor blocks, restoring signal clarity and ensuring the 3-way crossover remains within spec for decades to come.

Control Switch & Terminal Service: The 3-position tone control switches (L-pads) were thoroughly flushed and cleaned with DeoxIT to eliminate dropouts and ensure clean signal delivery. The rear terminal pass-through posts and nuts were removed and tumbled in walnut shell media to restore a clean, corrosion-free connection. Dielectric grease was applied to all L-pad shafts and terminal pass-throughs on the terminal panel to protect contacts from oxidation and form a viscous air barrier against cabinet leaks.

Internal Cabinet Seaming: All internal enclosure seams were reinforced with a structural sealant bead from the interior, guaranteeing an airtight environment necessary for the acoustic suspension air spring design.

Midrange Sub-Box Sealing: The internal wire pass-through holes into the isolated midrange sub-enclosures were vacuum-sealed, preventing high-pressure woofer back-waves from modulating the midrange cones.

Baffle & Cabinet Structural Repairs: Stripped and blown-out factory wood screw holes in the baffle were drilled out, plugged with wood dowels, and secured with heavy-duty adhesive to restore a stable anchoring foundation for driver mounting.

Driver Acoustic Gasketing: Premium closed-cell foam tape was applied to all driver mounting flanges prior to installation to ensure a permanent, airtight cabinet seal.

Baffle & Rear Refinishing: The front baffles and textured rear panels were stripped of old adhesive and label residue, prepped, and refinished in flat black to provide a uniform factory look.

Hardware Refinishing: Original driver mounting hardware was run through a multi-stage vibratory tumbler for 72 hours to achieve a mirror-like finish far superior to the factory original.

Driver Frame Detailing: The square cast frames for the midranges and tweeters were stripped of surface oxidation and refinished in flat black.

Driver Cosmetic Detailing: The iconic cloth surrounds on the woofers and midranges were dyed back to a uniform black finish using alcohol-based Super Black India Ink—preserving suspension compliance without adding weight—and redoped with fresh acoustic sealant to restore the airtight seal.

Cabinet Veneer Correction: The walnut veneer cabinets underwent 12 hours of chemical stripping, hand-scraping, and sanding with fine steel wool/sandpaper to remove water rings and residue. The wood was then treated with Watco Danish Oil and conditioned with Howard Feed-N-Wax for a low-luster satin glow.

Grille Restoration: The brittle factory Masonite grille frames were structurally reinforced along the edges using a laminated FibaFuse fiberglass and polyurethane composite matrix. The frames were cleared of old staples, re-clothed in the original vintage factory fabric, and fitted with premium reproduction KLH badges.

80-Hour Lab Soak Test: Every speaker undergoes a strict "burn-in" to ensure new film capacitors are fully settled and the system is mechanically and electronically stable before being offered for sale.
