Roland SH-1000 – Genuine 1970s Barn Find

A very early and historically important Roland analogue synthesizer, introduced in 1973 as Roland’s first synthesizer.

This example has come directly from long-term barn/storage conditions and is being sold as a restoration project / barn find.

The instrument appears substantially complete electronically and still retains the original wooden construction, controls, coloured preset tabs and identification plate.

As the photographs show, the wooden cabinet/end sections have suffered significant damage and deterioration over the years. Sections of the outer wooden casing are broken or missing, leaving parts of the internal chassis exposed.

The mains lead is also in poor condition / incomplete and the instrument has not been powered up or electrically tested. Due to its age and condition, it should be inspected and serviced by someone experienced with vintage electronics before being connected to mains power.

Therefore it is being sold as:

Untested / for restoration / spares or repair.

Cosmetically it has extensive age-related wear, dust, marks, scratches and cabinet damage, all consistent with a genuine barn-found instrument. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.

Despite the condition, this is a particularly interesting restoration candidate because the SH-1000 is one of the landmark instruments from the very beginning of Roland’s synthesizer history. It is a 37-key monophonic analogue synthesizer with oscillator, filter, envelope, modulation, preset voices and the distinctive coloured preset tabs.
