Mark Schulman Collection - Slingerland – 7x14" Radio King Solid Maple Snare Drum, White Lacquer, 1940's

From the personal collection of acclaimed drummer Mark Schulman, known for his extensive touring and recording work with P!NK, Cher, Foreigner, Billy Idol and numerous other major artists, this imposing 7x14" Slingerland Radio King represents one of the classic American snare drum designs of the 1940s.

Solid maple shell with solid maple reinforcement rings, a construction that helped establish the Radio King as one of the most revered snare drums ever made. The deep 7" shell provides tremendous body and low-end presence while retaining the sensitivity, warmth and woody attack for which vintage Radio Kings are famous.

Quite frankly, this drum ain't much to look at. Everything works great but it's obvious this drum was played on countless gigs, even before Mark put it into service making hit records.

We left it set up with the same head and muffling from the last session Mark played it on. All of the original Slingerland hardware shows plenty of tarnish and pitting. Engraved hoops, 3 point throw off, muffler, snare wires. There is one missing screw on the mounting plate of the throw off. Everything works perfectly without it. It would be easy to replace the screw. . Somewhere along the line the original Cloud badge went missing. It looks like it may have been painted white over its original finish. This drum would be an excellent candidate for refinishing.
