To celebrate a century and a half of instrument-making expertise, Epiphone dug deep into the Sheraton’s history, all the way back to the days when Gibson and Epiphone instruments were built in the very same Kalamazoo, Michigan factory. The Epiphone 150th Anniversary Sheraton is clearly a visual tribute to that lauded era, but two Gibson-made mini-humbucking pickups seal the sonic deal with a vintage-inspired tone straight out of the ’60s. What do they sound like? Gibson mini-humbuckers split the difference between the full-bodied warmth of a humbucker and the sparkling, defined top end of a single-coil. It’s a remarkably versatile hum-canceling pickup design that’s equally at home dishing out snarling dirty tones, sparkling cleans, and everything else in between. 

Top-notch tonewoods 
In choosing to take after the original specs of the Epiphone Sheraton, a 100% maple center block body was the first significant step. With this brighter tonality and feedback-resistant design, you can expect a fantastic attack with much more naturally articulate and clear responsiveness than other tonewoods. The well-sustaining 1-piece mahogany neck is also true to the past but houses a smoother Indian laurel fingerboard that only slightly differs from the Sheraton’s original rosewood appointment. Atop the fingerboard are 22 fast-playing frets, marked by the classic mother-of-pearl block inlays that feature Sheraton-correct abalone “V” inserts. 

The epitome of Sheraton style 
The luxurious Sheraton has always been one of Epiphone’s premier semi-hollow instruments. However, the Epiphone 150th Anniversary Sheraton truly pulls out all the stops — aesthetic and otherwise. This instrument is a proper tribute to the Sheraton’s 1960s heyday, boasting beautiful 7-ply top binding, gorgeous mother-of-pearl inlays on the headstock and laurel fingerboard, and a jaw-dropping replication of the rarest Sheraton finish of them all: an elegant cherry stain that graced less than 100 instruments during the Sheraton’s initial Gibson-built run. However, the pièce de resistance is found in the Epiphone 150th Anniversary Sheraton’s idiosyncratic Tremotone tailpiece — a rock-solid tremolo system that’s simply bursting with vintage style.
