Custom MP Mike Pereira Tenor Ukulele

I knew absolutely nothing about MP ukuleles and luthier Mike Pereira when I bought this ukulele. I don’t know much more now than I did when I bought it.

Ordinarily when I buy a uke made by someone I never heard of, I will try to find him or her online and ask a bunch of questions. Unfortunately in this case I found little information about Mike other than his connection to National Guitars and his branching out into ukuleles and then retiring (and taking down his website in the process). I did find a few of his instruments online as well as references to him and his skills as a luthier.

One instrument I found online had a serial number of 157 that was already sold. It looks very similar to mine and the serial number is so close that perhaps it was made at the same time. The woods are likely the same, but I can’t say for sure. If you do a google search for “MP Mike Pereira ukulele number 157” you can compare them.

What I CAN say about this ukulele is that it is a tenor that was made in June 2013, serial number 158. Any further description of the wood would be guesswork on my part, and I don’t want to mislead the buyer. I do know that this is one of Mike’s custom handmade instruments rather than one of his cheaper “Cali” models.

I will say that this is a truly beautiful ukulele in very good to excellent condition. It comes with a Uke Crazy case that has seen better days.

Please research MP Ukuleles and Mike Pereira, study the photos carefully, and ask any questions before purchasing.
