Vintage Austrian Jaw Harp / Maultrommel, a traditional folk mouth instrument made in Austria.
This compact all-metal instrument features the classic rounded frame with a flexible center tongue/reed. The instrument is played by holding the frame against the mouth or teeth and plucking the tongue, with the player's mouth acting as the resonating chamber.
The frame is clearly stamped “MADE IN AUSTRIA.”
