Bearing the iconic original tan Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd. inner label, these 1970s Japanese-made models are legendary among classical guitar communities for their exceptional projection, robust construction, and deep, warm voice. The G-220A was a fantastic step-up model in Yamaha's vintage catalog, pairing a select spruce top with a remarkably striking laminate Indian Rosewood back and sides (featuring an incredibly straight, dark grain pattern as seen in the photos). The headstock retains its original etched gold-and-black boutique tuning machines with cream buttons, holding tuning stability flawlessly. Condition & Action Spec Report:
This 50-year-old vintage instrument is in stunning cosmetic shape but features a traditional high action profile:

• Cosmetics: Outstanding for its age. The top, back, sides, and neck show only light, minimal handling marks. The dark rosewood fingerboard is clean and healthy.
• Fret Wear: There is absolutely no visible fret wear across the board—plenty of life left for decades of play.
• Action Specifications: The string action currently measures 4.5mm at the 12th fret on the bass side, and 4.0mm at the 12th fret on the treble side. It delivers an immense, buzzing-free volume and projection that works brilliantly for traditional classical dynamic ranges or flamenco styles. There is not much room to adjust the saddle down so you will need to be comfortable with higher playing action.
