RARE Conn Cornet SN#229241 101 years old dating it to late 1925 by the serial number! The vertical tuning slide in the rear at the bell flare with thumbwheel is highly unusual. This feature was invented & patented in 1914 by Charles G. Conn himself, but never caught on, probably because of added cost compared to conventional tuning slides. The thumbwheel is near the left thumb position when you are holding the horn, and you can tune while you are playing. The kick-out slides have missing mechanisms when we received it, so they are inoperable. This was in the heyday of American brass manufacturing in and around Elkhart, Indiana. The Conn logo is hand-engraved...no stamping, rolling, or lasers in those days! Original case in good condition. Comes with 2 mouthpieces. Our brass and woodwind tech spent a year on this project as it came through our doors and our repair tech thought it was an interesting piece so I got it for him and he spent plenty of hours to get this from the way it arrived in our shop to the final product (See pics where it was disassembled when he first got it to the finished product)
