Another tried and tested winner, the Neptune HiGloss is a wonderfully articulate and powerful instrument. Although very capable of unplugged domination with its strong and full-bodied voice, this Neptune can also deliver when subtlety is required thanks to the incredibly responsive tonewoods.
Beautiful Guitar; I can see and hear that it has been handcrafted by real craftsmen. When I played it in the store, I heard its potential; the guitar spoke to me. With new strings on, it sings and is just what I was looking for. Lovely Guitar.
For those seeking acoustic power and projection, the Neptune is the obvious choice. Not quite on the scale of a full-on 17” traditional ‘jumbo’, the Neptune is 'baby-jumbo' so it's a little easier to handle thanks to the slightly smaller 16” lower bout, yet it still delivers an enormous amount of volume and tonal projection.
This Patrick James Eggle original body shape is equipped with a traditional cutaway design, so the upper frets are within easy reach, making solos or more complex chord shapes much more comfortable to achieve.
The top of this Neptune HiGloss model features premium quality Solid Engelmann Spruce; whilst on the back and sides, the highly figured, 3-piece Indonesian Rosewood is bound in Flamed Maple to the front and back; and for the fingerboard, bridge, headplate, and heelcap you’ll find our favourite premium hardwood, Indonesian Ebony.
This pairing of tonewoods has been popular for decades as together they produce a sound that is bright and "zingy," with excellent clarity. In terms of a frequency graph, this would look like a smile: Strength in the low frequencies, falling off in the midrange, and then rising again at the top. This results in the classic Spruce / Rosewood tone: Sparkling highs, rich bass notes and fabulous articulation across the spectrum. These tonal characteristics are complemented by the Neptune’s larger body size, delivering more low-end powerthan comparative Venus or Mercury HiGloss models.
To enable easy amplification, under the saddle of this FNCEHG3 lies a S-core piezo pickup, part of the streamlined, low-profile Fishman INK3 preamp system. A chromatic tuner, three-band equaliser, and volume knob are built into the preamp and the guitar's output connector is cleverly integrated into the bottom of the instrument, making changing batteries as easy as can be.
To ensure that your beautiful new instrument is well protected and cared for, your guitar is complete with a woodshell hardcase, with padded plush interior. We recommend that you keep your guitar in the hardcase whenever not in use.
