This vintage 500/1 Hofner bass from 1965 has the warm and fun feeling you always want from a Hofner bass. Has been in the recording studio and on stage for some Beatles shows but has unfortunately been more of a wall piece as of late and I would prefer it be enjoyed and played more.
The bass was purchased at the iconic O’Brien‘s music in St. John’s, NL in 2021. Was told this was 1963-1965 by the shop, but further research leads to 1965.
Full setup done in California with a Vintage guitar tech specialist prior to being brought back to Newfoundland.
Comes with a hard shell case (not original) It still plugs in and plays beautifully. Noticeable small hole in between the two pickups as shown in photos. Perhaps from a personal attempt to move the pickups or install a pickguard.
The pickup closest to the bridge needs to be re-screwed into the body as it’s a little loose.
Some expected scratching and belt wear on the back as shown in photos.
Other than the cosmetic flaw, Overall the bass is unbelievably fun to play and a pleasure to hear.
