2000-2001 Fender Standard Jazz Bass Fretless – Made in Mexico
Very clean Mexican-made Fender Standard Jazz Bass Fretless, serial number MZ0269701, dating it to approximately 2000-2001.
Black finish with a lined fretless fingerboard, pearloid pickguard, traditional passive Jazz Bass electronics and flatwound strings.
This bass has a pretty simple history. A friend of mine bought it new intending to learn bass but never really stuck with it. I eventually acquired it from him and used it occasionally while teaching guitar lessons. I'm primarily a guitar player, though, so the bass has spent the vast majority of its life stored in its case.
It has never been gigged and has always been case stored.
Everything works properly. Both pickups, both volume controls and the tone control have been tested and are working as they should. The bass plays and sounds great, and the lined fretless fingerboard makes it considerably easier to navigate for someone coming from a fretted instrument.
It's currently strung with flatwound strings, which are a great match for the fretless Jazz Bass sound.
Includes the molded hard case shown in the photos.
The case has accumulated a collection of stickers over the years. They're staying. I'm not attacking a perfectly functional vintage case with solvents and a scraper just to make it cosmetically sterile. Consider them free archaeological evidence of its travels through the early 2000s.
The bass itself is exceptionally clean for its age. Please review the photos carefully for exact cosmetic condition.
