This Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite

in Wine Red (2000 model) is a popular model among a wide range of players, known for its simple, modern look achieved by eliminating the binding on the body and fretboard, allowing for a reasonable price .

This particular example was manufactured in 2000 with a wine red finish. The slightly thinner body means the guitar weighs a little less than your average Les Paul at 4.01kg.

While it uses the traditional Les Paul wood combination of a maple top, mahogany back, and mahogany neck, some of the mahogany has been replaced with a lightweight material called chromite. The specifications differ from the early 1990s models, which used an ebony fretboard, but this one has a standard rosewood fretboard. The lack of a satin finish is also characteristic of this period.

A key feature is the combination of what appear to be original humbuckers ("490R / 498T") with the "Gibson USA" logo engraved on the back, delivering a traditional Les Paul sound. The tuners are made by Grover.

Although it's a cost-effective model with minimal ornamentation, it uses standard pickups and hardware, and this Studio model is lighter than the recent regular lineup Les Paul Standards, making it easier to carry around, which many will appreciate.

Despite being advertised as lightweight, it weighs 4kg, so it's not super light, but the body thickness makes it easy to handle, and it definitely has that Gibson sound. The sound is close to the impression of a Standard from this period, and it's quite good. Even without considering it as a lightweight model, it's a good Gibson guitar.
