Vintage Mid-East Mfg Mountain Dulcimer 4-String Hourglass Hearts

Made in Pakistan in the 1970s into the 1980s by Mid East Mfg which still makes dulcimers and a whole lot of other instruments, as well as under its specialized acoustic folk line, Roosebeck. Good quality build and built for export with laminated woods, not solid, so very stable with no cracks. It has aged very well and plays well all the way up the fretboard. Tuners are likely not original as there are a few exposed screw holes where another set had been installed (and likely the originals as the finish had built up an outline of that set). Looks like the first set was installed backwards, based on the outlines impressed in the finish. The top, back and sides might be laminates, but they are some lovely laminates with minimal wear (little edge wear, light scratches and scuffs). Sides look to be rosewood, top and back spruce.
