A Ball Family Reserve (BFR) edition Cutlass — Music Man's custom shop tier — from the April 2020 release, limited to just 51 pieces worldwide. Excellent, like-new condition — the plastic is still on the pickguard, no wear anywhere.
Finish & Body
Lightweight alder body finished in a vivid Scarlet Red high-gloss polyester finish, paired with chrome hardware throughout.
Neck
Select figured roasted maple neck with a matching figured roasted maple fingerboard and white neck binding — the roasted maple gives it a warmer, darker tone-wood appearance than the standard Cutlass neck, and pairs distinctively against the red body. 25.5" scale, 10" fingerboard radius, 1-5/8" nut width, 22 high-profile medium-width stainless steel frets, dot inlays.
Pickups & Electronics
SSS configuration — three Music Man custom-wound single coils, featuring the wide-spectrum Silent Circuit for hum-free true single-coil tone. Passive electronics: 250k volume and tone, .022µF tone capacitor, transparent buffered output for consistent tone at any volume. 5-way pickup selector.
Hardware
Music Man Modern tremolo with vintage bent-steel saddles. Schaller M6-IND locking tuners. Chrome hardware finish, parchment pickguard, 5-bolt sculpted neck joint for smooth upper-fret access.
Why this one's worth a premium over a standard Cutlass
Part of the same limited April 2020 BFR release as the Majesty in Gremlin Sparkle and the StingRay in Brilliant Blue — hand-selected tonewoods and a finish exclusive to this run. Long since discontinued and sold out at every major retailer (Sweetwater, Pit Bull Audio, and others all show it as unavailable/discontinued) — the only path to one now is the secondary market.
Condition: Excellent, like-new. Original plastic still on the pickguard.
