Ultra-portable, USB-powered virtual analog synth from Modal's next-gen Cobalt architecture — a scaled-down version of the Cobalt8 built for grab-and-go creativity without sacrificing depth.
Keyboard: 37-note compact keybed with aftertouch, MPE-compatible.
Sound engine: True 5-voice polyphonic, up to 8 oscillators per voice (40 simultaneous oscillators). 40 algorithms spanning classic waveshapes (sine, pulse, triangle, sawtooth) plus cross-modulation, PWM, wave-morphing, bit-crushing, and filtered noise. Two independent oscillator groups with optional extended drift for analog-style detuning.
Filter: Self-oscillating 4-pole morphable ladder filter with 4 switchable configurations, resonance, and a morph control for continuously shaping the frequency response.
Envelopes/Modulation: 3 dedicated envelopes (amp, filter, mod) with selectable types including negative/reverse. One polyphonic + one global audio-rate LFO (7 shapes, tempo sync). 8-slot modulation matrix with 11 sources and 41 destinations, plus 4 fixed common routings.
Performance/FX: Polyphonic realtime/step sequencer, 512 notes, 4 recordable/editable parameter animation lanes. Built-in arpeggiator. Two independent stereo FX engines (delay + chorus). X/Y/Z touchpad for 5-axis expressive control over pitch, mod, and assignable parameters. 16 switched encoders for hands-on editing.
I/O/Power: USB-powered (bus or portable power brick), editable/controllable via MODALapp software.
