The Tube-Vibe is a high-end, all-tube take on the classic Uni-Vibe circuit, built using old-school thermionic technology. Instead of transistors, this psychedelic modulation machine uses vacuum tubes, photocells, and a pulsating filament lamp to generate rich, swirling chorus, vibrato, and Uni-Vibe-style effects with a distinctly organic character.

Famously used by David Gilmour, the Tube-Vibe has an exceptionally lush, liquid sound with a beautifully phase blurred, three-dimensional quality. The response and depth of the effect are remarkably natural, making it particularly useful as a recording tool for guitar or keys. It also accepts an expression pedal for controlling rate organically as you play.

Excellent condition; well cared for with only light signs of use. Functions like new. JJ tubes with plenty of life left. Some very minor cosmetic wear on chassis.

Like the Shin-Ei Uni-Vibe, the Tube-Vibe is based on the Hammond AO-41 organ vibrato unit. But, unlike the Uni-Vibe, the Tube-Vibe’s pre-amp, mixer and phase-shifter sections are built using vacuum tubes. Further, the Tube-Vibe features a dual LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) that generates thick, swampy vibe tones at higher modulation rates and smooth, shimmering chorus effects at slower rates.

The Tube-Vibe handles passive single coils or “hot” active humbucker pickups effortlessly. It’s immune to high signal levels which would undoubtedly cause severe clipping distortion in solid-state vibe pedals. Typically, the Tube-Vibe ships with a 12AU7 tube in its input stage for stunning, clean vibe tones and maximum headroom. Want more gain and growl? Then swap out the 12AU7 out for a higher gain variety, such as a 12AY7 or 12AX7. A 12AY7 will thicken up the tone of a “Strat”; and a 12AX7 will push tube amps into overdrive for some serious sustain.
