Ernie Ball Music Man BFR Cutlass HSS — Blue Magic (Ball Family Reserve, Limited to 56 Pieces Worldwide)
This is a genuinely rare one — a Ball Family Reserve (BFR) edition Cutlass, Music Man's version of a custom shop run, limited to just 56 pieces worldwide. Essentially brand new: the plastic is still on the pickguard, unplayed, no wear anywhere.
Finish & Body
Lightweight alder body finished in a custom Blue Magic satin/matte finish — a color and finish combo exclusive to this BFR run, not available on any standard-production Cutlass.
Neck
Select figured maple neck with a figured maple fingerboard, black binding, ultra-light satin polyurethane finish. Oversized black position markers. 25.5" scale, 10" fingerboard radius, 1-5/8" nut width, 22 high-profile medium-width stainless steel frets.
Pickups & Electronics
HSS configuration — two Music Man custom-wound single coils plus a custom-wound humbucker with matching covers. Features Music Man's wide-spectrum "Silent Circuit," which cancels single-coil hum while preserving true single-coil tone. Passive electronics: 500k volume and tone (250k load on switch positions 2, 3, 4, and 5), .022µF tone cap, with a transparent buffered output for consistent tone at any volume level. 5-way pickup selector.
Hardware
Music Man Modern tremolo with vintage bent-steel saddles. Schaller M6-IND locking tuners. All hardware finished in black — tuner buttons, bridge, everything — matched to the parchment pickguard with contrasting black plastic parts and matching painted headstock.
Why this one's worth a premium over a standard Cutlass
BFR editions get hand-selected tonewoods and finishes the standard line never sees, and this specific run is long since sold out at every major retailer (Sam Ash, Guitar Center, Sweetwater, Musician's Friend) — the only way to get one now is secondary market.
Condition: Like new / unplayed. Original plastic still on the pickguard.
