Carvin AE 185 Late 1994 - Blue

Carvin AE 185, Electric/Accoustic guitar. Mahogany body & neck, AAA Engleman spruce top, locking Sperzel tuners, dual Carvin Humbuckers w/Fishman under-bridge piezo pickup & active Fishman Matrix pre-amp system, serial #2808, manufactured in late 1994. Chambered semi-hollow body with internal acoustic resonance cavities, mahogany neck-through body, 25 inch scale length neck, Ebony fingerboard & mother-of-pearl dot inlays, fixed ebony acoustic-style bridge with compensated saddle, Carvin C22N (Neck) and C22T (Bridge) humbuckers, Master volume, active electric tone, active acoustic tone, acoustic/electric pan-blend knob, 3-way magnetic pickup selector toggle, coil split switches, Phase switch, and dual output jacks for splitting the signal to separate acoustic and guitar amps or main mixer. Officially introduced at the end of 1994. This is an extremely versatile guitar - can be used with either a single either guitar cable plugged directly into an amp, or using the dual output setup with 1 cable plugged into an amp and the other cable plugged into an acoustic amp or directly into the PA. Sounds great in either configuration. The neck through body design was an innovative Carvin feature that adds really great sustain to the tone of this guitar.

I changed the control knobs to slightly larger low-profile flat top knurled knobs that I think are more functional, but I kept the smaller diameter dome top knobs which will be included in the sale in case you want to switch back to the original set up. It also comes with the original leather strap & locking strap locks. This is a very nice vintage instrument that has been well cared for. All electronics work well, and the body is in very good condition, with only a few light finish scratches and 2 very minor "dings" on the outside edge of the lower bout that are barely noticeable. Also included is the original locking hard shell tweed case. The case is a bit scuffed up, but 100% functional and all hinges and latches work well - no issues.
