This is a 2007 Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Reissue. It has the standard VOS finish which grants it extreme comfort that feels like an old friend when playing. This particular Les Paul has a very desirable tone in both pickups. I’d describe the bridge as big and powerful in the lower mids and beautiful overtones. I’d describe its neck pickup as having that beautifully round and fat tone which is so loved in the best Les Pauls. Lots of clarity in both pickups.

I went to all the high end shops in Portland the day I purchased it, this was the best sounding R8 I found that day without a doubt. I’m selling it because I find myself too anxious owning expensive guitars. Plus, I get a lot of fulfillment tinkering, swapping, and modifying guitars, making them mine, and I would never do that to a Custom Shop.

It weighs in at 9lbs 6.4oz. It was purchased used from Thunder Road Guitars in Portland Oregon (a high end guitar shop) and the sale will include a copy of the my sales receipt. It comes with the original hang tags and case. All the parts are original. Like many guitars from this era, the COA was lost before my ownership of it (at the time, Gibson made them ridiculously large and they wouldn’t fit in the case, so many from this time frame are missing the COA).

As seen in the photos, it’s been played and dinged quite a bit. No neck break. I personally think the dings add to the VOS patina, the Murphy Lab would charge $1k plus for what this guitar has, ha. The frets have plenty of life left in them. It should be noted, whoever owned the guitar prior to me kept it hung on a cheap hanger and thus, ate through the lacquer where the guitar hangs (see the photos). You won’t see it when playing or when observing, and you won’t feel it, but it’s something to note.
