Bringing this Pioneer SX-680 (1978-1980) back to life — recapped power supply and any low ESR capacitors. Replaced power transistor (pictured), resistors including the two fusible resistors in the power supply. Replaced all known transistors that fail over time including all the phono section transistors and the noisy output differential pairs. Cleaned and reapplied thermal grease to the STK packs ensuring long continued life. Replaced the lamps with warm white LEDs. Replaced the vinyl. The whole unit was thoroughly cleaned, the faceplate top polished to remove scratches and faceplate was polished using mothers mag aluminum compound. All controls thoroughly flushed and cleaned with DeOxit. DC offset was found to be less than 10 mV per channel.
The faceplate and knobs have minor scuffs, scratches and dings.
