It has garnered support for a long time and continues to be loved for its excellent value, and in February 2026, it was relaunched with various updates!

And the model arriving in stock this time is a special edition: the MJS1-ADZ-BL/R, featuring a colored anodized pickguard.

In terms of wood specifications, it features the quintessential combination of an alder body and a rosewood fingerboard.

The body’s understated grain and oil finish blend exquisitely, and together with the smooth texture, they make the blue anodized pickguard stand out.

Unlike typical glossy urethane or lacquer finishes, you can enjoy the patina that develops over time and with use, and we expect it to develop an even more sophisticated look as it ages.

The most significant change from previous models is, without a doubt, the pickups. It’s equipped with the “Hotrod,” which carries over the name from the previous model.

Compared to previous pickups, the output has been set slightly higher, making it suitable for a wide range of playing styles and situations.

While this style has been popular among rhythm guitarists in recent years, it’s also become highly versatile for lead guitar playing.

Additionally, carrying over from the previous model, the slide switch allows for series/parallel switching, making it suitable for an even wider range of applications.

Furthermore, the inlays on the sides of the fingerboard feature Luminlay, a phosphorescent material, enhancing visibility even on dark stages.

The fingerboard radius has also been changed from the previous 210 mm to 310 mm, adopting a flatter profile. Overall playability has been improved.

Of course, features such as the wide cutaway and recessed backplate remain, ensuring a very stress-free playing experience.

Additionally, the selection of a Puretone jack enhances durability, making this a guitar you can enjoy for a long time with peace of mind.

While not directly related to performance, the “MADE IN JAPAN” logo on the headstock back has also been updated to feature the inscription “Aska Quality.”

You can truly feel the spirit of Aska Kobo, which has garnered high praise not only in Japan but also overseas.

Before actually playing it, I assumed—based on the official description stating it’s “easy to use as a lead guitar”—that the power in the mid-to-low range had been enhanced.

However, when it arrived and I plugged it into the amp, I felt a sense of power while also noticing that the treble was more pronounced than I had expected.

It retains the ample midrange presence I’ve come to expect from previous Momose models, while also offering a clearer, more defined soundstage with excellent sound projection.

I was worried that the brilliance might be toned down, but that was a completely unfounded concern—the result is a truly upgraded, magnificent sound!
