When a guitarist wants the intimacy and responsiveness of Martin's smallest traditional full-scale body style without giving up the materials and craftsmanship of a premium instrument, the Custom Shop 0-18 brings one of the company's oldest guitar formats into a modern high-end build. Martin's 0-size guitars trace their roots deep into the company's 19th-century history, while Style 18 became a lasting example of Martin's less ornate, tone-focused approach to construction. This Custom Shop interpretation elevates that formula with an Adirondack spruce top, genuine mahogany back and sides, hand-shaped Golden Era scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing, and a Vintage Gloss finish.

The compact 0-14 Fret body gives this guitar an immediate, articulate response that makes it especially appealing for fingerstyle playing, songwriting, recording, folk, blues, Americana, country, and acoustic accompaniment where definition matters more than sheer volume. Adirondack spruce is prized for its dynamic range and headroom, while genuine mahogany back and sides emphasize a dry, direct fundamental with clear trebles, punchy mids, and a focused low end. Underneath the top, 0.25" Golden Era scalloped X-bracing is hand shaped from Adirondack spruce to encourage resonance, sustain, and responsiveness. The result should be a voice that remains detailed under a light touch yet has enough headroom to respond when the player digs in, making the guitar particularly useful in recording environments where balance and note separation are valuable.

Martin complements that traditional tonewood recipe with a neck designed to make the compact body comfortable for contemporary players. The genuine mahogany neck uses a GE Modified Low Oval profile with a High-Performance Taper, and joins the body with a traditional dovetail joint at the 14th fret. Its short 24.9" scale provides a relaxed string feel, while the 1.75" bone nut provides useful room for fingerstyle technique. An ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, nickel open-gear tuners, faux tortoise appointments, Aging Toner top, and Old Style 18 details complete an instrument that connects Martin's historic 0-18 concept with the materials and attention to detail expected from the modern Custom Shop.
