Unlike standard modern high-gain pedals, it utilizes a unique hybrid tube/solid-state design powered by an internal, shock-mounted 12AX7 vacuum tube running at proper voltages to deliver massive, authentic saturation and tube dynamic response.  Critical Power Requirement: Because of it’s internal tube design, this pedal cannot run on a standard 9V battery or a typical 9V guitar pedal power supply.
