Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a 1950's era Astatic DN50 model dynamic microphone set at high impedance and comes complete with it's original G model pull to talk desk stand. This was a good quality "general purpose" dynamic microphone and was an affordable alternative to some of the more sophisticated dynamic cardioid mics of that era. It just happens to make an excellent harp mic as well with it's dirtier High Z tone. Great for the Ham radio as well.

Pic # 2 is from an old catalog I have showing the mics basic price and characteristics.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The mic actually does work and works well. It's set at high impedance which means it basically lacks bass in it's tone and was designed to ne used with audio equipment that had Hi Z inputs. It has a higher pitched sound and a classic "rockabilly" vibe that many musicians and harmonica players are looking for today. The mic is omni-directional in nature as well.

That being said the desk stand that is sits on does not work. It will need to be rewired as there is an issue with the wiring within.

It will make a very nice display piece however despite the issues with the stand.

This DN50 model had that classic deco look that was very popular in the 1930's to 1950's before the design lost appeal and was eventually phased out. Far more classy than flashy and looks quite elegant when you appreciate the lines on it. They certainly don't build these mics like they used too.

The DN50 is a rugged all metal construction with a stock painted body and painted front grill.

This unit has been thoroughly tested and cleaned. As you can see the original paint has just a few paint chips located mostly on the front grill. The black screen is free of any holes or rips but somewhat loose. The chrome is very nice with zero pitting and a beautiful luster. Joint mechanism works nicely and allows for a smooth sliding adjustment. The early riveted Astatic badge looks very nice and completely legible.

The Astatic G stand is in great shape as well with just typical lite wear on the chrome accent pieces and painted base but again, does not work currently. Comes with the short 8 inch Belden 8412 type cable. The cable is soft, pliable and free of any cracks. It has the chrome female 1/4 inch connector.

The Astatic stand and mic together are appx 13 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide.
