Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a somewhat rare and very high quality 1960's era Electro Voice 647 model dynamic microphone set at High impedance and is excellent for general broadcasting as well as use as a harp mic. You don't see too many of these mics around. The 647 was a good lavalier mic as well meaning it was usually worn around the neck though it can be mounted on many mic clips as well. This mic comes with the short 8 inch original cable in which to operate. lavalier necklace and original box.

Sadly, I don't have much info on this mic currently and the only catalog sheet I have on this is seen in pic # 2 from the late 1950's.

I believe this mic utilized the exact same element as the studio version called the 655C. They even put serial numbers on these 647 model mics and E.V only ever did that on their higher end models.

The mic has been tested and has an omni-directional element in excellent working order. This will be great for a HAM radio set up or any studio setting.

The mic is Hi Z so it lacks bass with a higher pitched tone that's on the dirtier side. The signal strength is strong though and would make for a very fun mic to use with a harmonica as it's lite weight and easy to cup. The lavalier necklace would come in handy as well. The necklace is original and these are kind of hard to locate these days. It's in excellent condition as well and the mic simply slides into it staying in place via tension.

This microphone is an all metal, ultra lite weight and has a stock painted tube that shows typical lite wear as you can see in the pics provided. Electro Voice painted the mic as the all chrome bodies were not ideal for live T.V or televised events with the extreme glare the chrome would put off. The E.V badge looks really nice and the front grill is free of dents, tarnish or odors. This 647 is an easy 7 on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking. Just a few small blemished on the painted body.

The 647 is appx 5 inches long X 1 inch across at the tip. Again, the mic has a short 8 inch cable which runs down the rear inside of the mic. The cable has an original Cannon male XLR end connector. The cable is soft, pliable and free of damage.

Simply attach any longer XLR cable of choice as an extension to your audio equipment.

The mic comes with the original box in which to store and will be great for resale purposes as you rarely see the original boxes anymore. It shows just lite wear.

                           Priced to sell.

As with all my vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be immediately relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
