1972 Gibson SG Deluxe *KAHLERED!*

Norlin era beauty! From pancake bodies to big honkin’ volutes, Gibson’s “Norlin Era” introduced non-traditional gems (and turds) to Gibsons lineup. The SG Deluxe was one of those models. The Deluxe was quite different than the Standards of the same era, with a front-routed control cavity, zero degree neck pitch, deeper set neck and a Les Paul style pickguard.

This particular example has quite a few modifications. The bridge and tailpiece setup has undergone multiple changes, as it was first converted to a Nashville style bridge, then finally replaced with a Kahler tremolo. The trem arm is included in the sale. The electronics were changed to have a push-pull volume control for both volumes, and functions as a coil split. The neck PUP is a Seymour Duncan SH-2b, and the bridge PUP is a Dimarzio DP-159 evolution (13.84k). The tuners are locking Grovers, which eliminates the need for a locking nut, and works with the Kahler.

The guitar overall is in good condition. The action is nice and low, and the original frets are in good shape, especially being a factory "fretless wonder" guitar. This guitar was played a lot, as the Gibson logo and crown have beautifully ambered, and there is considerable buckle rash and wear on the sides of the guitar. There are also some screw holes in the headstock venir, likely from a locking nut. There is also a tiny repaired crack in the headstock that I've tried to picture, without getting it in the right light it is hard to see.

This player-grade classic is a great instrument for someone who wants a vintage Gibson for a typically non-vintage Gibson price, or if you just want to kill(in') time. I really love these models, and while they really only made them for two years (1971 & 72), I already have two.

No case included, just used for pictures. Shipping to the Continental US and local pickup only. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions. Thanks!
