Up for sale, a 1962 Gibson J-200N in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. An early adjustable bridge example that has been converted with a traditional drop-in saddle, this particular J-200N is visually and sonically a standout, with deep, three-dimensional bubble maple figuring extending liberally across the bookmatched back and a custom ordered 7-piece neck (flame maple with walnut stringers) evocative of Gibson’s top tier archtops.

Described by Gibson as "King of the Flat-tops", the J-200 truly an impressive instrument both visually and sonically, with a projection and power few acoustic instruments can match. With a lower bout that's 17" in width, and a body depth of over 4 1/2", the tone of this particular Gibson Jumbo is extremely bold, full and even-sounding, with equal presence and power afforded each string.

Weighing 5lbs 13oz, tonewoods include a spruce top, deeply figured maple back/sides, and a flame maple neck capped by a bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The maple back and rims ensure a strong note attack and treble detail, and the instrument offers a broadband punch and prodigious projection emblematic of a soundboard that's had the opportunity to open up over a number of decades. This J-200N benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings, accurate intonation and easy-playing action.

The gloss Blonde finish is original on the body with light overspray on top, while the neck and headstock have been fully oversprayed. There is one repaired split at the bass-side waist on top and broad lacquer checking, particularly behind the bridge, with some minor finish chipping and wear adjacent to the neck heel where the neck has been reset in the past, and various additional minor dings and scuffs consistent with careful handling. The gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine, and there is a short, shallow repair just below the low E tuner housing on the back of the headstock. The guitar has a prominent smokey smell (think “campfire,” not cigarettes).

The original hardshell case with a black large pebble exterior and gold interior is included.
