For sale or best offer is a vintage 1970 Gibson SG Standard with a large pickguard and Maestro Vibrola. It was long ago refinished after what was likely a heel repair, as evidenced by visible dowels in on the back of its neck heel. This work was impressively done, is super solid, and likely, properly set the neck angle, from which SG's of this era notoriously suffer.
Its neck is super comfortable and has a bold taper, measuring 0.895" at its 1st fret, and 1.09" at its 12th. It also has a small volute, which is a rare and transitional feature. Its tuners are vintage Schallers, with its previous holes filled in, and its tailpiece is missing its Lyre cover. The rest of its hardware is original, as are its electronics, including its pair of patent sticker humbuckers. These sound incredible.
It's in great shape, with expected nicks and dings throughout. It looks great, feels amazing and sounds awesome! It is lightweight, coming in at just 6 lbs, 5 oz.
It has been professionally set up and comes with a vintage Baldwin hardshell case.
