1981 Takamine F-340 Acoustic Guitar Martin Era D-18 MIJ Japan + CaseSerial Number: 81031221Finish: NaturalBody: Spruce/MahoganyNeck/Fingerboard: Mahogany neck / Rosewood boardNeck Shape: CNeck Specs: 1.67” nut width, .84” @ 1st / 1.16” @ 12th (heel)Pickups: N/AWeight: 4lb2ozlbIncludes: More recent Takamine case (missing 1 latch)Model Notes / Modifications: D-18 Clone. This era was considered fairly high quality, from what I understand.9/64” action at the 12th, but there’s a good amount of saddle left. It also plays surprisingly well as-is.The Sales Pitch:Very cool D-18 clone from Takamine. I picked this up and instantly loved it, but unfortunately, I can’t keep them all and I need to clear out some space. It plays well. I was surprised that action was a little high once I actually measured it, but there is a good amount left on the saddle to work with, so I have no doubts the next guitar dad could dial it in to their liking. It’s over all in nice condition, but does have a few small dingers, dents, impressions. I will describe in the condition notes below. I believe this time period for Takamine was fairly highly regarded in terms of their Martin copies. I believe they used the “plans” from the original versions.Condition Notes:This is not a mint condition piece. It’s got wear and tear consistent with 45 years of play. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The headstock has some mild edgewear. The tuners are factory originals and work. Many people switch these out to Grovers. Something to consider…The nut appears to be original and is well cut.The frets show a little bit of wear, but no large divots. The top is in nice shape, but has a few dings and scratches (see photos). The back of the neck has some small dents/dings. If you need a perfect neck, this one’s probably not for you, but if you don’t mind some impressions, you should be fine…they never bothered me.The back and sides have some impressions and worming…nothing crazy. The case is a newer Takamine case and is missing one latch, but closes and stays closed just fine. The Fine Print:Reverb limits us to 25 photos. I try to capture the “worst” things. I am happy to provide additional information / photographs upon request. Definitely reach out and ask if there's anything I missed or anything you want to know.I am not interested in trades with Gen. Pop. I’m mostly trying to clear out physical space, but if you are local to me, an established shop, or a credible YouTuber and you have something vintage or weird that is cool, it doesn’t hurt to ask. If you’re not either of those things, it’s extremely unlikely, due to complexities of making a trade and security concerns around shipping an instrument to an unknown destination.I try to price my gear fairly based on time I spend "researching the market". Please keep offers realistic. I try to make sure all of my instruments are set up and play/sound great before listing them. That said, everyone has different preferences and sometimes traveling can cause movement. It would be best to expect to have to do a setup, but then be pleasantly surprised if you don’t.All of my gear is sold as-is, but I won't leave you hanging if it arrives other than as-described / photographed. I will work to get your guitar safely packed and shipped out quickly (usually the same day or the next day). I take quick shipping and safe packing very seriously.Much of my gear gets cross posted on my local FB marketplace for local sales. Please do not send me a message here on Reverb asking me to do a deal outside of Reverb. It is against their terms of service.
