With that checked, Spitfire Chamber Strings Professional is the top edition of one of the best regarded string libraries made. Sixteen handpicked players were recorded in The Hall at Air Studios in London, performing an encyclopaedia of articulations and techniques. A chamber section is smaller than a full symphonic string section, which buys you detail and intimacy: you hear individual players rather than a wash.

The Professional edition is the one with the full microphone mixes and the complete articulation set. It carries 244 articulations across roughly 242,000 samples, organised into six instruments: Violins 1, Violins 2, Violas, Celli, Basses and a combined Ensembles patch.

It runs in the FREE Kontakt Player, so you do not need to own the full version of Kontakt. Version 5.6.8 or higher is required. The Spitfire Audio app handles the download and installation.

Legato, staccato, spiccato, the ostinatum tool for building rhythmic patterns, control keyswitches, solo keyswitches and chord mode are all there, along with the round robins, dynamics, vibrato, release and tightness controls that make the library playable rather than just sampled.
