I’m offering a beautiful 2011 ESP Standard Series Eclipse-II FR, made in Japan during the desirable pre-E-II era, when these Japanese production instruments still carried the ESP name proudly on the headstock.
This guitar came from the personal collection of my late brother, Bob Kulick. After Bob passed away in May 2020, I became responsible for his guitars and this ESP became part of my collection. Included in the photos is a professional photograph Bob had taken of five of his guitars, with this black ESP Eclipse-II FR prominently displayed in the center. I am not certain of studio or performing usage but it will come with a signed COA that it's from his collection.
The guitar is exceptionally clean and has been very well cared for. Look at the YouTube video!
Period ESP specifications for the Eclipse-II FR include a mahogany body with maple top, set mahogany neck, 24.75" scale, ebony fingerboard, 22 XJ frets, Gotoh tuners, black nickel hardware, locking nut and a genuine Floyd Rose Original tremolo.
The standard catalog configuration for the black Eclipse-II FR used active EMG 81/60 pickups. Bob's guitar is equipped instead with passive Seymour Duncan humbuckers, which I personally think are a terrific match for this guitar. Seymour Duncan JB/'59 pickups were factory equipment on other Eclipse-II models during this same period. Bob's own photograph documents this particular guitar with passive uncovered humbuckers during his ownership.
The guitar was professionally set up for me by my longtime Las Vegas guitar technician and builder Bernie Hamburger, and plays exactly as you'd expect a high-quality Japanese ESP to play.
Serial number shows it's from the SS factory in Japan. Made in Japan, 2011.
The guitar comes with an aftermarket Les Paul-style hardshell case, along with the pictured case candy and accessories. The case itself has an old piece of duct tape handwritten “Bob Kulick,” another nice piece of the guitar's history. That case was for this guitar.
I will also provide a signed Certificate of Authenticity from me, Bruce Kulick, documenting that this guitar came from Bob Kulick's personal collection and has been in my possession since his passing.
For the ESP enthusiast, this is a particularly appealing combination: an ESP-logo Japanese Standard Series Eclipse from the pre-E-II period, ebony fingerboard, Original Floyd Rose, passive Seymour Duncans, excellent condition—and documented Bob Kulick provenance.
