Overview: What to say about this? Its owner calls it the "Methstang" because he got it in such a rabid state of undress and wonk. It came here filthy, with the cheapest Strat-style pickups fit, and everything in parts and jumbled. The bridge posts were mangled, the wiring harness was frozen in place from internal crudding-up, that sort-of stuff! It looked awesome, however, and between Jose and myself, we nursed it back to health.
mostly plays like a normal Mustang save that we've fit Alnico lipstick-style single coil pickups rather than Fender-style, repro Mustang pickups (come on, they're fun!). To re-use the original bridge, I replaced the mangled bridge posts with some archtop-style adjuster wheels and posts. This is a little easier to use and keeps the bridge locked in place better, too, so the whammy is a bit more stable than normal.
As you might expect, after work was complete this thing turned into a great little player. The neck is that perfect Fender C shape with the tight board radius and it has the most-lovely, odd finish -- a rattlecan "candy apple red-a-like" finish shot over original mocha brown. It's beat-up like crazy in the body so there's a lot of "fade to clearcoat through brown" when you're checking it over closely. It looks terrific.
Repairs included: Jose leveled and dressed the frets. I replaced missing strap buttons with older parts-bin ones, fit a new wiring harness (500k pots, orange drop cap, Switchcraft jack, and reused the original slider switches) and new shielding (though the old brass plates and harness are bagged-up and will be included), fixed the bridge problems, and set it up. It's playing spot-on and is ready to go. No, we don't have an arm for the whammy, but it does work nicely and you can even get palm-bends on it pretty easily.

Condition notes: Obviously, it's not all-original (see exceptions above) and has lots of wear and tear. The original bits that are important are all there, though -- the bridge, knobs, control plate, pickguard (save one tiny repaired corner), tuners, and neck are all stock stuff. It's been modified and hot-rodded a bit but it's mostly a stock Stang in terms of handling. It sounds about halfway to a Danelectro from a Jaguar, to my ears, which is absolutely killer for use as a chord-chomping guitar.
It comes with: Sorry, no official case, but I may have a spare gigbag.
