1969 Fender Bandmaster Head - AB768 - Blue Faceplate / Big Jewel Washer - Collector-Grade Board

For sale is a 1969 Fender Bandmaster head, serial A 37090, AB768 circuit - the last good circuit before CBS went to the AA270 bias-balance.

This is NOT a later silverface. Blue lettering with blue border line, large flat chrome jewel washer (drip-edge era only), single bias adjust pot.

CHASSIS / CODES:

- Serial: A 37090 (late 1969 stamp)

- Circuit: AB768 confirmed - single bias pot, blue molded Ajax caps, white Mallory 25uF cathode caps, cloth wire, brass plate

- Choke: 606-9-02 = Schumacher Jan 1969 2nd week

- OT: 606-9-xx original 1969 (photo)

- Pots: CTS 137 6636 / 6643 - 021857 250K and 021832 1MEG - original 1966 CTS, Fender old-stock used in 69 build (photos)

- Faceplate: Original blue lettering, no extra holes

- Jewel: Original red faceted glass with original wide flat chrome bezel

SERVICE HISTORY (disclosed):

- Power Transformer replaced 1971 - 606-1-34 (Schumacher Jan 1971 34th week) - done when SS rectifier mod was done

- Filter caps replaced 1974 - 235-7411 Mallory

- Solid State Rectifier mod - currently has 6 tubes (4 pre + 2 power), empty socket where 5U4GB was. Works great, more headroom, runs cool. Easily reversible to tube rectifier if desired.

- Original board untouched - blue molded caps still there, no hack mods

CONDITION:

- Works, loud, clean Fender blackface tone. Tremolo works.

- Tolex wear consistent with 55 years, no major tears

- Faceplate has light scratches around jewel - see photos - no cracks

- All original knobs

This is the desirable AB768 head that people convert to Vibrolux Reverb / Vibroverb specs. 40W of pure Fender clean.

Sold as-is, no cab, no footswitch. Head only. I have a 1964-65 blackface 2x12 cab with modern Celestions available separately if you want the piggyback rig.
