A wonderfully characterful example of the Fender Coronado II from 1971, this is a great opportunity to own one of Fender’s more unusual and distinctive designs from the early ’70s. With its semi-hollow construction, offset styling and unique Fender approach to the traditional hollowbody formula, the Coronado II has developed a real cult following among players and collectors alike.

This particular example is in Very Good condition and has been refinished at some point in its life. The original colour is unknown, so while the current finish gives the guitar a clean and attractive appearance, it should be considered a refinished instrument rather than an example retaining its factory finish.

The guitar retains its original electronics, original Fender tremolo, bridge and tuners, making the core of the instrument remarkably well preserved. The original pickguard is unfortunately missing, and the original strap buttons have also been replaced; the original strap buttons are not included. One of the neck screws has been replaced as well, with the remaining hardware retaining its vintage character.

We believe the frets to be original and they remain in good usable condition, although given their age and remaining material, a refret may be something to consider further down the line. The neck has also been shimmed to achieve a better break angle over the bridge and allow for a lower, more comfortable playing action. This has resulted in a very playable setup while retaining the instrument's original neck and hardware.

As with every new arrival that enters our store, this Coronado has passed through the trusted hands of our on-site workshop team, where it has been thoroughly inspected, professionally set up, and prepared to ensure it is in tip-top shape for its new home and owner.

The guitar comes supplied with a Hiscox hardshell case, providing excellent protection for this rather special vintage Fender.

A wonderfully unusual piece of Fender history, this Coronado II has clearly lived a life and carries a number of honest alterations and changes that should be noted by any prospective buyer. However, the originality of the electronics, tremolo, bridge and tuners makes this an especially interesting example for anyone looking for a vintage Coronado with plenty of character and a great deal of its original hardware intact.
