€2,799 – offers welcome
For sale is my Warwick Thumb NT4, built in April 1990 in Germany – a genuine early-era Thumb and a fantastic example of what made these basses so distinctive.
This is a real player's instrument. It has been played and enjoyed throughout its life and shows the honest signs of use you would expect from a 36-year-old professional instrument. Rather than being a case queen, this is a Thumb that has spent its life doing what it was built to do – and it remains an absolutely wonderful, resonant and characterful bass.
The bass has a wonderfully immediate response and the unmistakable early Thumb sound: articulate and growling in the mids, tight in the low end and incredibly present in a mix. Acoustically, it is already very lively and resonant.

The bass is in good, honestly played condition for its age. There are various marks, scratches and signs of use accumulated over more than three decades. I have deliberately photographed the instrument in detail so its condition can be judged properly.
Most importantly, it plays beautifully and can be set up with a low action. Electronics work as they should.
This is not a modern Thumb trying to recreate the early Warwick character – it is the real thing, from one of the most sought-after periods of Warwick production.
A fantastic bass for someone looking for an early German Thumb NT to actually play, rather than an untouched collector's piece.
The bass is located in Germany.
EU shipping is possible. The instrument will be packed very carefully. Please contact me before purchase if you have any questions regarding shipping or would like additional photos.
Reasonable offers are welcome.
DEUTSCH
Ausstattung:
- Made in Germany, April 1990
- Thumb NT, 4-Saiter
- Neck-through-Konstruktion
- Wenge/Bubinga-Hals
- massiver Bubinga-Korpus
- 26 Bünde
- aktive MEC JJ Pickups
- originale MEC 2-Band-Elektronik
- Messingsattel
- Warwick Hardware
- originale Warwick-Tasche
