Here is a very early production (#287) Klon Centuar Gold Long-Tailed Horsie. The builder, Bill Finnegan, hand-assembled roughly 8,000 units between 1994 and 2009. The serial number, and potentiometer date codes noted below date this pedal to the first or second year of production (late 1994 to early 1995). I have owned this pedal for several years and have used it only occasionally. The pedal is in very good condition for its age. There is some natural patina and wear on the gold sand-cast enclosure from time and use. The Centaur graphic, and labels for controls and jacks are present and clearly visible. The bottom plate shows some light scratches from use, but the Klon label is intact and very legible.
Inside the pedal, the typical black epoxy "goop" covers most of the main components on the circuit board. The hand written serial number in gold colored ink is clearly displayed. The Output and Treble potentiometers each have 9426 date codes and the Gain pot has a 9428 date code. Inspection of the internal components shows no evidence of repairs or modifications, and no alterations or service have been performed during my ownership.
Functionally, all of the pots, jacks, footswitch and LED function as they should and the pedal sounds incredible! Included in the sale is the pedal and an external 9V DC power source with a compatible jack. I do not have the original box or instructions. Free shipping is offered for the continental United States.
