Vintage Martin Fleetfoot Bass Drum Pedal – Minneapolis, MN – 1940s/50s

This is the early Martin Fleetfoot design, generally identified as the Model 5000. The Fleetfoot is an important piece of American drum-history and is the predecessor to the later Camco and Gretsch Floating Action pedals, with the design lineage eventually leading to the modern DW 5000.

This example features the characteristic cast-aluminum frame, hexagonal rocker shaft, eccentric cam, leather drive strap, and adjustable spring tension. The Martin Fleetfoot’s simple, lightweight design was known for its smooth action and became one of the most influential bass-drum pedal designs in drum history.

The pedal is marked MARTIN FLEETFOOT / MFG CO. / MINNEAPOLIS / MINN.

Based on the construction and documented production history, this example dates to approximately the 1940s–early 1950s. I am not assigning a specific year because Martin’s surviving documentation is limited.

Condition: Very good vintage condition with expected age-related wear and patina. The pedal appears largely original and retains its period-style beater. Please examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition.
