If you’re looking for an acoustic that spent the last 21 years sitting untouched in a climate-controlled glass display case… congratulations, you’ve clicked on the wrong guitar.

This 2005 Martin HD-35 has actually been played, which is precisely what these things were built for. It has wear. It has scratches. It has some finish checking and evidence of a life involving actual guitar picks. And yes, there was previously is some separation showing along the top center seam which has been professionally dealt with, and is now solid and stable. We’ve photographed this clearly because surprises are great for birthday parties — not guitar deliveries.

But underneath all of that is the reason people love the HD-35: Sitka spruce, East Indian rosewood, scalloped 1/4" bracing, that gorgeous three-piece back and enough low-end authority to make you wonder whether somebody hid a subwoofer in the case. Period-correct HD-35 specs include the 25.4" scale, 1 11/16" nut, Low Profile neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, herringbone top trim and Style 28 appointments.

And this one has a couple of useful upgrades. The original tuners have been replaced with Graph Tech Ratio locking tuners, and an aftermarket LR Baggs pickup has been installed, so when somebody says, “Can you plug that thing in?” you don't have to stare at them like they just asked you to install a Floyd Rose.

Condition & What’s Included

She’s in good player-grade condition with normal play wear, scratches and a few surface impressions from use. The top center seam shows evidence of having been previously glued/repaired. Our tech inspected the area and confirms the repair is solid and stable. Please see the detailed photos.

The tuners have been replaced with the Graph Tech Ratio locking set shown, and the guitar has an aftermarket LR Baggs soundhole pickup installed. We just restrung it with a fresh set of 12-54 Ernie Ball Earthwood strings.

Includes the Martin molded hardshell case shown.

This isn't the HD-35 for the collector who examines a guitar under six different flashlights while wearing white gloves. It's the HD-35 for somebody who wants an older Martin with gorgeous rosewood, plenty of character, useful upgrades and that big dreadnought voice — and isn't afraid to actually play the thing.

And frankly, at 21 years old, it's earned the right to have a few wrinkles. 😎

Whoever brings this baby home is going to be STOKED!!
