The Fender Japan ST-62 is the definitive MIJ Stratocaster reissue — built at the Fujigen Gakki factory in Japan to specifications so faithful to the original 1962 Stratocaster that many players consider these Japanese reissues to rival, and in some cases surpass, their American counterparts from the same era. The ST-62 delivers the full vintage Strat experience: an alder body, a maple neck with a comfortable rosewood fingerboard, three single-coil pickups with that crisp, glassy Strat voice, and a synchronised tremolo that feels precise and expressive under the hand. These guitars are celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship, tight fretwork, and superb resonance — a direct product of Japan's meticulous manufacturing culture at its absolute peak in the 1980s.

Fender Japan launched in 1982 through a partnership with Kanda Shokai and Young Chang, bringing Fender's iconic designs to market with a level of care and quality control that consistently impressed players worldwide. The ST-62 in particular has become a genuine collector's item — a guitar that doesn't merely reference the original but genuinely embodies its spirit. If you have been looking for a vintage-feeling Stratocaster that plays beautifully and sounds exactly as a Strat should, this is it.
