Guitar was ordered custom through the now-closed Guitar Heaven in Nashville, TN and spent its entire life in the Bay Area, California.
Until recently .As part of the prep for sale, this received a full tuneup from Sylvan Music and the bridge was dialed in.
New 10/52 Elixirs.
Neck:
Wide-Thin Neck Carve is smooth and natural without being too thin or fat. Wide-Fat was the standard for these and I purposely ordered Wide-Thin. It is great for both leads and rhythm; giving a fabulous allrounder feel. There are no dings or scratches or divots in this neck.
Scale: 25" scale is that PRS magic! 22 frets.
Inlays: BIRDS. No Moons here.
Frets: 22. The frets were polished and leveled by CB
Perkins and have terrific action.
Fretboard: The fretboard is beautiful Indian
Rosewood. 22 frets. The grain is very pretty and something you won't see a lot of anymore.
Body/Paint:
Body wood is one piece mahogany. Top is deeply carved flamed maple which PRS calls the violin carve. The flamed maple peeking out is sexy.
Platinum metallic is the finish with a fantastic and deeeeeeeep natural scraped binding exposing the flamed maple underneath. That era put out insane.
Pickups:
Dragon 2 pickups in 3-way push/pull configuration with volume and tone controls. Both split/tap.
Neck: Depending on the day, a Dragon 2 coil tapped neck pickup on a 22 fret guitar is my favorite sound.
Bridge: Terrific and full. Not boomy. Not ice picky.
Very balanced.
Condition:
The condition is very good. It would be excellent/ mint overall except for a few dings on the body and headstock. I never planned to sell so I never repaired them because it's, how do the kids say,
"natural relic!" Please reference the pictures. I estimate most dings are between 2-3mm, the largest is probably 1/2" and near the output jack.
Care:
The guitar was always maintained early-on by the legends at CB Perkins in San Jose, CA, later by Mark Brown of Mark's Guitar Repair in Campbell and finally at Sylvan Music in Santa Cruz. Mark Brown is the gold record-winning tech guru wizard from doobie brothers.
