The Electro-Harmonix Crayon (model "Crayon 69") is a full-range overdrive guitar pedal released in 2015. Unlike many mid-focused overdrives, it offers an open frequency response with independent Bass and Treble controls (both flat at 12 o'clock, cutting left and boosting right), letting you shape anything from a subtle dirty boost to full-on distortion.

Key specs:

Controls: Gain, Treble, Bass, Vol, plus a true-bypass footswitch
Size: 4.5″ × 2.75″ × 2.1″ (compact, pedalboard-ready)
Power: 9V battery included (10 mA draw); optional 9VDC center-negative adapter
Tone: Warm, rich, and transparent; works standalone or stacked into another drive/amp
Owners and reviewers generally rate it highly (around 4.5–4.9/5) for its versatility and value, noting it thickens single-coils and pairs well with humbuckers, though a few report added feedback at low gain. A variant in the EHX "Hot Wax" combo adds a Blend knob and drives the Hot Tubes for higher-gain stacking.
