An original 1972 Gibson ES-150D, a double-cutaway hollowbody in the beautiful and classic Walnut finish, from the exceptional 1972 production year.

The guitar is in excellent condition and is sure to delight any vintage Gibson enthusiast. It plays beautifully, has excellent action, and delivers exactly the warm, woody, characterful jazz and blues tones you would expect from a genuine vintage Gibson made in Kalamazoo.

The neck features the classic slim profile without the later volute (reinforcement behind the headstock), providing that traditional vintage playing feel.

Special features of this 1972 instrument:

What makes this ES-150D particularly special is its remarkable combination of period-correct historical features, making it especially interesting and authentic for collectors.

Original “Embossed” pickups: The pickup covers feature the distinctive embossed Gibson logo. These rare pickups were produced by Gibson for only a very short period, from late 1971 to mid-1972. A striking visual detail and an important part of the guitar’s original sound and character.

Historic “Union Made” label: Inside the body is the original period label featuring the sought-after “Union Made”designation.

The model designation “ES-150D” is printed in the classic serif typeface.

Beautifully aged patina: The label displays the characteristic fading associated with this era — over the decades, exposure to UV light has caused the ink to fade gracefully to a soft pink hue. A distinctive period feature adding to the instrument’s vintage character.

Serial number 684337: Together with the “Made in USA” stamp on the back of the headstock, the instrument can be clearly dated to 1972.

Condition & originality:

The guitar has always been treated with great care and is in outstanding cosmetic and technical condition for its age of more than 50 years.

The finish retains a beautiful deep gloss.

The electronics work perfectly, and the hardware remains in its original condition.

The guitar can be viewed and played through a tube amplifier at my location by prior arrangement.

Insured shipping in a suitable hard case is also possible at the buyer’s expense. Shipping details and risk would need to be agreed upon in advance; collection in person is preferred.
