This violin is a fine example of the makers work, these pieces are rare and typically found in the region of Pennsylvania suitable for professional violinists collectors, serious hobbyists and advancing players. The tone is robust and full as it has been played for the majority of the 90 years of it's life the violin plays like butter and is even across all strings and in all positions. Very resonant overtones and harmonics. The violin itself is very light and constructed with meticulous care and attention to details.
The top is a solid two piece slab of quarter cut spruce of fine to medium fine grain, back is a two piece slab of quarter cut maple with very attractive high figure. Sides neck and delicately carved scroll is of similar timbers with deep flaming. F holes are nicely fluted purffling is also well done and deep channeled.
Varnish is lightly antiqued and has some natural ware form playing and is a golden brown huge with a yellow-gold under huge that shines in the light with hints of red and amber.
Fittings are all solid ebony, fingerboard; pegs, tailpiece and chinrest.
