Now these are really interesting. BTI was a broadcast company in the 1970s that manufactured their own equipment. So there are only a fraction of these compared to API 312's. The BTI 3102 is BTI's exact copy of and API 325 line card, but using their own OA400 opamp. The OA400 was based on the 2520 but built to far more strict broadcast standards, causing it to have a quieter noise floor, higher headroom, and deliver a more open and faster transient. Basically more punch, attack and low end than your standard API 312. I've loved these on Kick, Snare, Toms, Over Heads, Bass, Piano, Vocals. But could be used with basically anything. Very hi-fidelity.

The card retains its original 1970s Jensen output transformer, OA400 opamp, and has an added Jensen 115K-E input transformer (originally this was a line input card like the API 525, so a mic input transformer was added) BTI had Jensens spec their transformer based on the API 2503 in the 1970s, so its only fitting to use a modern Jensen on the input stage. They were racked and serviced by SVT audio to be compatible with API 500 series format.

If you like the API 312, but always felt like it was a little small in comparison to bigger more open and modern press, this is the preamp for you. Vintage vibe and character, but with more hi-fi modern performance!

The preamp is in fantastic condition, but due to the nature of 50+ year old equipment, it is being sold As Is. Please reach out with any questions before buying.
