Seymour Duncan SJ5-3n Quarter Pound 5-String Jazz Bass Neck Pickup

THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE NECK PICKUP ONLY (SJ5-3n). BRIDGE PICKUP NOT INCLUDED.

The Seymour Duncan SJ5-3n Quarter Pound brings big, aggressive tone and high output to the neck position of your 5-string Jazz Bass®. Featuring massive 1/4" Alnico 5 rod magnets and a hot coil wind, this pickup delivers powerful lows, punchy mids, strong attack, and excellent articulation. It's an excellent choice for bassists who want the warmth and fullness of a Jazz Bass® neck pickup with more output and authority than a traditional vintage-style single coil.

The Quarter Pound's oversized pole pieces help produce a strong, full response with plenty of sustain and presence. Whether you're looking for a more aggressive rock tone or simply want a fuller, punchier neck pickup that remains articulate in a dense mix, the SJ5-3n delivers the signature Quarter Pound sound.

The SJ5-3n is reverse wound/reverse polarity (RWRP), allowing hum cancellation when paired with the corresponding SJ5-3b bridge pickup and both pickups are used together. On its own, the SJ5-3n is a true single-coil pickup and is not noiseless.

Hand-built in Santa Barbara, California, the SJ5-3n features Forbon flatwork, a wax-potted coil for squeal-free performance, and a black pickup cover.

TONE & PERFORMANCE

The SJ5-3n Quarter Pound takes the familiar Jazz Bass® neck pickup sound in a bigger, more aggressive direction. The hot coil wind and oversized Alnico 5 pole pieces deliver high output, strong attack, and a full, punchy response with plenty of sustain and authority.

Compared with a traditional vintage-output Jazz Bass® neck pickup, the Quarter Pound delivers a more forceful sound while retaining articulation and detailed high end. It's an excellent option for players who want more low-end weight, punch, and presence from their neck position without sacrificing definition.
